TRANSFORMER STATIONS
Simply explained
In simple terms, a transformer station converts the medium-voltage from the local medium-voltage grid (usually 10 or 20 kV in Germany) into the usual 400V (low voltage).
Transformer stations are used as local network stations for local power supply or for projects where the power supply from the local low-voltage network is no longer sufficient. A transformer station is therefore suitable for energy-intensive companies or for temporary events where a lot of energy is needed (such as a large construction site).
We deliver all stations turnkey for connection to the medium-voltage grid. The connection is then made by the power grid operator. Close cooperation with the energy supply company or power grid operator, as well as the preparation of all necessary plans and applications during the project phase are a matter of course for us.
The main components of our stations are: themedium-voltage switchgear, the transformer and the low-voltage distribution.
In addition to the usual 10 and 20 kV, we offer transformer stations in any upper and lower voltages.
- The stations are of course built with arc fault qualification according to IAC A u. B. in accordance with IEC 62271-202 or DIN EN 62271-202 (VDE 0671-202).
Depending on the power requirements and local conditions, there are various options for a transformer station. Compact stations that are not walk-in and larger walk-in stations are possible. We supply walk-in stations up to a size of 40-feet containers. We also offer transformer stations and individual medium-voltage components for indoor installation.
Whether compact station, walk-in station or stations in buildings. We offer them for rent or for purchase.
Transformer compact stations are not walk-in and thus ensure a space-saving power supply.
Neither building applications nor a foundation are required for the erection of a compact station. Standard power ratings of up to 2,500 kVA are possible.
In addition, this method of construction has the advantage of keeping the fire load away from your building.
Walk-in transformer stations offer the possibility to realize the power supply outside your building. And this is also standard for power ratings up to 4,000 kVA.
Apart from this high power requirement, this is suitable for customers who are planning for the future. Walk-in stations can be expanded if an increase in power is desired.
Just as with compact stations, the fire load is kept away from your building.
Another option is transformer stations in the building. In some buildings, it is advisable to integrate the medium-voltage technology in equipment rooms, in the basement or attic.
This results in the advantage that interior installations are not visible from the outside.
Whether a transformer station in the building is possible for your application depends on various criteria.

Possibly our DUCT pressure discharge system is relevant for you. As an additional safety factor, this minimizes the room pressure that occurs in the event of an arc fault and is used for indoor systems and walk-in transformer stations.
We will gladly check whether an indoor installation is possible and whether the DUCT is needed to protect people, buildings or other equipment.
